Phlebotomy is a good way to break into the allied health fields. Phlebotomists take blood for routine bloodwork and to check for markers of disorders and illness, such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease.

The job doesn’t end after the blood is drawn. Phlebotomy techs must carefully label samples and ensure that it is sent to the correct location to be tested, donated, or transfused.

Job Growth

Employment of phlebotomists is projected to grow 23% through 2028, much faster than the average for all occupations. Hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, blood donor centers, and other locations need phlebotomists to perform bloodwork
